Themes for the future

To build a better world, we need to use our heads and hearts. The Expo subthemes help to guide us on this journey together.

Connecting Minds, Creating the Future

Our once-in-a-lifetime celebration – the largest event ever staged in the Arab world – is set to welcome 190 participating countries, and millions of visitors from across the globe. Here they will experience warm Emirati hospitality at its finest, as well as the UAE’s values of inclusion, tolerance and cooperation. Youth are at the heart of our World Expo. That’s why Expo 2020 aspires to create a meaningful legacy that will benefit generations to come, both locally and globally, spanning everything from innovations and architecture to friendships and business opportunities.

Opportunity   Mobility   –  Sustainability

Our subthemes are the key pillars that guide us on our journey

OPPORTUNITY :  Unlocking the potential within us

Triggers visitors to realize the important role that they can play in human development through their actions. We all have the power to shape the future. Expo 2020 aims to unlock this potential in multiple ways, such as supporting solutions to social problems through our Expo Live programme and introducing visitors to new ideas that inspire them to act.

The Opportunity Pavilion aspires to engender empathy in visitors to trigger a desire to act to create a better world.

The visitor experience is based on a series of gameplay moments that will challenge the visitor’s thinking on issues related to basic needs of water, food, and energy by simulating environments of real life individuals who are agents of change in their own communities.
